How to Clean a Piercing
Clean new piercing 3 times a day for first 3 days, 2 times a
day for the next 3 days, then once a day for the rest of the healing process
with a low pH soap. HibiClens, Dial, or Lever 2000 is recommended. Do not
use HibiClens on mucous membranes such as genitalia, nose, or mouth. Avoid soaps
that contain perfumes, deodorants, or other additives.
- Remove matter which has dried on jewelry or around piercing
with warm water. Work jewelry back and forth to aid the process.
- Work soap into piercing and leave it for about 3 minutes.
- Lather again and work jewelry back and forth through
piercing a few times.
- Rinse piercing thoroughly, again working jewelry back and
forth under running water to remove all traces of soap.
- Pat dry.
- Apply a small amount of Bacitracin or Neosporin. Do not
use ointment for more than 10 days.
